AREAS OF FOCUS
Creativity and Creative Blocks
Has the muse abandoned you? Are you questioning your self-worth when you’re not creating? Is your passion starting to feel like a chore? Do you feel your work is never good enough?
I've been a writer and musician for ten years, so I understand the struggles and joys of the creative process. You can't separate the person from the artist. Counseling can be a way to get to know yourself better and explore what is holding you back from expressing yourself. We can examine issues related to perfectionism and challenge the voices of self-criticism. Whether you are a professional or aspiring creative, creative blocks are an inevitable part of the process. However, we can find ways to navigate them, reignite your imagination, and rediscover your creative energy.
Otherness and Marginalization
Have you always felt out of place? Do people make assumptions about you, but not truly know who you are? As life went on and you developed a greater understanding of yourself, perhaps you realized who you are is at odds with the messages you received in the past. It can be stressful to navigate a society where you might encounter systemic and everyday prejudice and discrimination, because of a combination of your age, race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexuality, and/or ability.
As a person with lived experience at the unique intersections of marginalized identities, I understand the struggle and loneliness of being the “other," especially when your complexities don't fit neatly into society's categories and it's hard to find a label that captures your experience. There is no right or wrong way to be when it comes to being yourself. Often times, it involves venturing into uncharted territory. As scary as it can be, it can also be a journey filled with creativity and empowerment. Whether you are BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, or neurodivergent (or a hard to label combination), I can provide a safe space for you to voice your experience, discover your authentic self, and find your place in this world.
Career Therapy
Are you stuck in an unfulfilling job? Do you wake up and dread going to work? Is your cultural upbringing at odds with the path you want to pursue? You might be feeling trapped, helpless, empty, or lost. Whether you're dissatisfied with your job or navigating a career transition, career therapy can help.

Throughout our lives, we internalize messages from our environment that shape how we view career and work. Some of these narratives include committing only to one path, valuing the highest paying job/field, or viewing a career simply as a means to make a living. And amidst all the hours we spend on the job, we haven’t taken the time to question these ideas and gain awareness of our own needs. Unlike career coaching, career therapy goes deeper with the aim of deconstructing these narratives, exploring your values, and empowering you to re-author your career story.
